Nollie Ngwira, born & residing in Botswana, is a well loved and bespoke figure in the fashion & styling circles. With a naturally gifted eye she balances tasteful fashion with personality and it results in sheer style.
Her zeal for creating a sense of pride with one's appearance & self-image, makes her work as timeless as style itself. Project after project proves that she has the magic that makes the fashion industry such a part of human existence.
With a beautiful reputation and solid experience in fashion & styling, she was asked what influences her. She says: "I am influenced by street style because it allows you to interpret trends in your own way and that is something I apply on a daily basis."
Selling clothes, wardrobe curation, personal styling as well as personal shopping & looking to soon sell custom made clothes as well makes her the bee's knees of Botswana's fashion & style platform.
A side of what occupies Nollie's time is something many people are not aware of, but yet something that is very much needed in society. Social upliftment & development has been stygmatised by the NGO world as the mundane projects that have for decades been acquiring the NGOs a lot of their funding. Having done years of NGO work myself, I have always believed that the basis of what is needed in social devolpoment & upliftment is a dynamic shift in perspective. This is why Nollie Ngwira's other side caught my attention.
Nollie, being someone who sincerely feels for as well as understands people, recognised what is needed at the core of Social Devolopment & Upliftment: a sense of self-worth.
Being a natural person & mother she understands that it's the mothers that shape the generation. If women recognise their own self-worth, feel dignified & secure in who they are, then the way they raise their children is also with a substantially stronger foundation for life. Just the example alone that women project to children becomes a powerful teacher.
Putting this fact to practice she started giving classes & workshops in which she motivates, teaches & guides women to making themselves feel beautiful and confident in who they are.
Based on the social media feedback I've had the pleasure of reading, there is no doubt that in this regard she has given social upliftment a golden glow.
She says: "With our One on one styling classes we normally invite 10 - 15 people to come in at an affordable fee to try and help with their wardrobes and style.
Master classes we talk about everything from shoes to accessories even hair but style workshops we focus on on 1 area i.e. underwear or dinner clothes etiquette. We are hoping to increase these numbers as time goes on & at the same time make them intimate workshops, helping women appreciate themselves & recognise their own worth. We are very much engaged in social upliftment & want to do even more.
Last year we focused on plus size women embracing & loving who they are. We'll see what this year's will be."
We very much look forward to seeing more of Nollie's fashion, styling & workshops. May what she does be not only a blessing for those fortunate to encounter Nollie, but also an inspiration for the whole of Africa!
